introducing Ina

Ina is a yoga practitioner and a certified Iyengar yoga teacher. For her, the practice is a path to transformation and integration that allows her to live a fulfilled and meaningful life, and her motivation to share yoga comes from wishing to foster this process in the people around her.

Ina respects all the teachers she has met along the way and feels grateful for what they have contributed to her understanding in the subject of yoga. While she acknowledges that yoga has its roots in India, for her yoga is a universal subject, transcending the boundaries of countries, traditions, and cultures. It is a path to self-discovery and a fulfilled life, not a belief system.

yoga as a process and a state

For over 20 years, yoga has been both a process and a state for Ina. It allows her to face herself daily with the same sincerity, observing what’s happening here and now, and noticing how she responds to it.

The deliberate play on words “Yoga with Ina” and “Yoga within” aptly reflects her intention to share yoga through the practice of asana and pranayama, while inviting others to immerse themselves in the process of exploration and self-discovery.

Ina offers yoga tools on this pathway, but leaves everyone the space to follow their own rhythm as they travel through the world within, a world where the body, thoughts, emotions, will, and breath all come together. Through working with the body using yoga techniques, everyone can connect with the deepest and most authentic part of their self.

supportive time on the mat

The time spent on the mat has multiple dimensions for Ina. It is a place of meeting to discover the unknown and face challenges.

It is a search for the inner stillness to which attention and engagement leads. For Ina, the time on the mat is support, not an escape; it is an encounter, not avoidance.

After many years of uninterrupted, though evolving, practice, adapted to her life’s circumstance and to various phases she went though, from fascination to weariness and health challenges, Ina realizes that everyone’ experience is different, while the changes one can see on the mat are intertwined with the changes one can see in life; both are noticeable and valuable, even if not always spectacular.

a powerful tool for growth

Ina’s own experience has given her the certainty that yoga is a powerful tool for growth. Improved well-being and agility in both body and mind are, in her opinion, pleasant but rather lateral effects of the practice. She certainly doesn’t perceive yoga as a self-control technique whose aim is simply to recharge.

This precious moment, when one stands between the past and the future, free from the demands of both, is a state she sees as the core of the practice. From this place, many possibilities emerge.

For Ina, the practice is a path to transformation and integration that allows her to live a fulfilled and meaningful life, and her motivation to share yoga comes from wishing to foster this process in people around her.

Iyengar Yoga

Iyengar yoga is a system of hatha yoga based on the practice of asana and pranayama. It is a process of gradually learning about the self through the details related to positioning the body in certain shapes (asana), often by facing and dealing with challenges or limitations encountered on the mat.

Dedicated practice leads to inner balance, experienced through alignment of the body, breath, and mind.

The Iyengar method uses various props (blocks, belts, bolsters, etc.), and asana are practiced in sequences in which technique, repetition, and timing play an important role.
